Mechanical WATCH CUFFLINKS
Mechanical watch cufflinks, as the name suggests, are created by taking mechanical watch movements (aka mechanisms) from watches and setting the watch mechanism into a carefully crafted cufflink. We’re often asked what the difference is between mechanical watch cufflinks and automatic watch cufflinks. Simply put, mechanical watch mechanisms gain the energy needed to move their hundreds of finely produced parts by being wound by hand. The watch crown (aka winder) on the side of the movement needs to be wound to give kinetic energy to particular watch elements that store this ‘potential’ energy.
This effectively acts as a ‘spring’ which is used to power the watch over time. When the energy put into the movement from hand-winding the watch runs out, it simply requires winding once more. George Fox Cufflinks will never harm a working watch to make cufflinks and so our mechanical watch cufflinks are made from non-working movements.
